The Planning Commission holds public hearings for conditional use permits, subdivision and parcel map applications. The Commission makes recommendations to the City Council regarding revisions to the General Plan, Specific Plans, and Zoning Ordinance.
Planning Commissioners are appointed by the City Council to four-year terms. Meetings are held the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 6:00 p.m. Notices are sent out to property owners adjacent to proposed projects and in the Williams Pioneer Review. The public is encouraged to attend and voice their concerns regarding items before the commission. Time is set aside at the beginning of the meeting to hear comments for the public for items not on the agenda.

The Heritage Preservation Commission holds public hearings regarding activities affecting designated Historic Districts, Historic Resources, and Heritage Properties in the City of Colusa.
Heritage Preservation Commissioners are appointed by the City Council to four-year terms. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
The Parks, Recreation, and Trees (PRT) Commission guides the City of Colusa Parks and Recreation Department, oversees city parks, and manages the Master Tree List. Public meetings are held to discuss park and tree issues with City Staff as well as plan and approve Recreation programs.
